Messages on screen and files in both directions
FleetPilot can now reach the person at the device and the disk underneath it: important messages that appear as a banner, a file browser per device, and file transfer to and from a machine.
Added
- Important messages on the device screen. An alert can be sent to a device from its page and appears on the machine itself — as a banner on macOS and on Windows — rather than waiting for someone to check a dashboard. The agent went through a series of revisions to get the banner visible, focused, correctly placed and scrollable for longer text.
- Drop in: send a file to a device. A file is uploaded and then delivered to the device as a task, with a destination path for the transfer.
- Browse a device's file system. Directories on a device can be listed from the dashboard, and a picker is available for choosing a location on macOS.
- Drop out: collect a file from a device. The reverse direction — a file is uploaded off the device.
Improved
- Installers for macOS, Windows and Linux. The agent installer scripts were reworked across all three platforms, including the permissions the banner needs on Windows.
- Task descriptions on the device page. The list of tasks now says what kind of task each entry is.
Fixed
- The read loop used when a file is uploaded off a device was fixed.
